The picture was taken in Italy. A shepherd was moving his flock through the ghost village of Frattura Vecchia on one of the days of my shoot. I walked with him for an hour while he recounted the history of the region. Cultural traditions persist. The transumanza is a centuries old tradition recognized by UNESCO.
